Agarak–Nurduz, the Armenia–Iran border at Meghri: status as of 27 October 2026

Status page — this crossing is not sold

Agarak (Armenia) – Nurduz (Iran), near Meghri, is the only Armenia–Iran crossing, about 330 km from Yerevan by road. In June 2025 it was reported open for foreign citizens, with daily minibuses from Meghri to Yerevan. In March 2026, during the attack on Iran, lorries crossed but the rules for civilians were unclear and some waited for hours or days. As of 27 October 2026 we cannot confirm normal passenger crossing, so we sell no transfers across it — only rides inside Armenia, such as Yerevan → Kapan from $210. Prices checked .

Is the Agarak border open right now?

We cannot confirm it for travellers. Freight traffic was moving in March 2026, but a border guard could not say who was allowed through, and individuals reported waits of hours or days. Check with your embassy and the official sources of both countries before you plan this route.[2]
