Is the Armenia–Turkey border at Margara open? Status as of 27 October 2026
Status page — this crossing is not sold
No. As of 27 October 2026 the Margara (Armenia) – Alican (Turkey) crossing is closed to ordinary travellers, as the land border has been since 1993. It opened only briefly for humanitarian aid — in February 2023, for ten days in March 2025 and for ten days in June 2026 (aid to Lebanon). In January 2026 Armenian media reported a possible opening for third-country nationals and diplomats, but no date was announced, and in February 2026 Turkey was still renovating its Alican post. We do not sell this crossing; travellers go via Georgia. Prices checked .
